He Waited a Year to Follow Her. His First DM Was “Marry Me, Woman”

Sunny first came across Eneet’s Instagram in 2019, but didn’t follow her. His reasoning was simple: “She probably won’t follow back.”

A year later, he changed his mind.

When Eneet saw the follow, something on his page caught her attention too. “I noticed he was really into fitness like I was, so I followed him back.”

Still, neither of them said anything. That changed when Eneet posted a story about studying for her personal training license alongside one of her meal-prepped meals. Sunny replied with a line that was anything but subtle.

“He saw that story and DM’d me saying, ‘Marry me, woman,’” Eneet laughs. “I thought it was hilarious and replied with a witty comment. That’s how our daily conversations began.”

Fitness gave them an easy starting point. They traded workout tips, talked meal prep and quickly realized they had much more in common than the gym. “We talked about everything under the sun,” Eneet says. “It was amazing how quickly we realized we had so much in common.”

And the fitness connection never really disappeared. For Eneet, some of Sunny’s most meaningful gestures are still tied to the routines they share. “When he knows I have to get up early to go to the gym, he wakes up to clear the snow off my car without me saying a word.” Sometimes it’s making her pre-workout in the morning; other times, it’s simply being there when she needs him. “The fact that he is obsessed with the gym is just the cherry on top.”

Sunny is just as drawn to Eneet’s drive. “She is the most ambitious and hardworking woman I have ever met,” he says. “Her dedication and drive are unmatched, and she motivates me to keep working hard.”

When it came time to propose, Sunny knew Eneet didn’t want to choose her own ring or know exactly what was coming. She wanted the sentiment of it to be his.

So he disguised the proposal as something completely ordinary for them: filming a fitness video.

Instead, Eneet arrived at a soccer field to find a violinist playing her favourite song, “Let Me Love You” by Mario. Sunny got down on one knee, and afterward they returned home to find their closest friends and family waiting to celebrate.

They became engaged on July 2, 2022, giving them about a year and a half to plan the wedding. One thing was decided early: they wanted an outdoor Anand Karaj. By September, they had found a 200-acre property and planned the ceremony beneath a clear tent surrounded by the landscape.

Eneet wanted red, but not a traditional all-red bridal look, so she chose colourful accents and jewellery to make it feel more like her. Sunny wore gray and beige, creating a softer contrast beside her. “The culmination of these choices felt authentic to us and reflected our personalities beautifully,” Eneet says.

One of her favourite memories came after the ceremony, when guests kept telling her how much Sunny had been smiling. “When I later saw the professional pictures, his smile was radiant in every single frame.”

Looking back, Eneet’s advice has less to do with wedding planning and more to do with choosing the right person. “It’s crucial to find someone who shares your interests and values, someone with whom you can enjoy both the exciting and mundane aspects of life.”

For Sunny and Eneet, the mundane still looks a lot like the thing that brought them together: sharing pre-workout in the car, going to the gym, and coming home to make something high-protein together.

As Eneet puts it: “Train together, stay together!”
