Megan and Ravi met the way many modern couples do—on Bumble. Neither of them could have predicted how important that one swipe would be. Their first date—a casual night of dinner and drinks—turned into hours of nonstop conversation and laughter, the kind that makes you wonder if you’ve known this person forever. By the end of the night, it was clear: this wasn’t going to be a one-time thing.
When Megan and Ravi started dating, they both just knew—this wasn’t your average romance. Megan felt like she was finally with someone who made her feel genuinely loved, protected, and cared for in a way she’d never experienced before. And it all started with Ravi’s sense of humor. “From the very beginning, our humor just clicked. During our first dinner date, there were no awkward moments. We were laughing and talking like we’d known each other forever.” The more she got to know him, the more she fell for him. “Ravi has such a huge heart. He’s so hardworking and loves his family deeply, which is something I really relate to. He’s the middle child of two brothers, and I’m the youngest of two sisters. It just felt like we understood each other.” She also loves how naturally outgoing he is. “He’s a total social butterfly, which balances me perfectly since I’m usually the one sitting back and soaking everything in. He’s such a loving soul—always making me laugh, being an amazing dog dad, and just being so unconditionally kind.”
And for Ravi? Megan was the kind of person who could light up the dullest of days. She was his breath of fresh air and unlike anyone he’d ever met. “Megan brings light and a smile to everyone she meets. She never fails to make her friends and her family feel comfortable and welcome around her as she genuinely provides a deep level of love and care.” On their first date, Ravi just knew how special Megan was. “We had such great conversations about life, family, friends, and so much more that we lost track of time and stayed until the restaurant closed.” As he fell more and more in love with her, Ravi noticed how Megan showed her love in little, thoughtful ways. “She cooks the best meals, even watches scary movies with me even though she hates them, and takes such amazing care of our dogs. Her ambition is so inspiring—it makes me want to push myself, too. I love that Megan has my best interest at heart and pushes me to be the best man and husband I can.
So, naturally, when things feel this right, you take the next step: introducing each other to your families.
Family introductions are always a big deal, but for Ravi, there was an extra twist—Sophie, Megan’s dog. Forget the parents for a moment; Sophie was the real gatekeeper, the ultimate judge of character. If Ravi couldn’t charm Sophie, this love story might’ve had a different ending. But Ravi? He aced it. Sophie’s wagging tail was all the approval he needed, and Megan’s heart melted seeing him embrace her world—fur and all.
Megan’s mom didn’t take long to join Team Ravi, “Megan can finally wear her highest heels without apology,” thanks to Ravi’s height. Her dad, on the other hand, couldn’t resist the classic, “Does he play basketball?” move—because what else do you say to someone that’s 6’5. But it wasn’t just about height, though; the whole family could see how perfectly Ravi fit into Megan’s life. It was like he’d been part of the family all along. From family vacations to weekend hangouts, it was clear he wasn’t just Megan’s person—he was everyone’s new favorite, a perfect fit they didn’t even know they needed.
Ravi’s family didn’t need much convincing when it came to Megan. From the start, they loved hearing Ravi talk about her with so much certainty. “She’s got a great head on her shoulders,” his parents said after hearing all about Megan, and it was clear they already saw her as more than just Ravi’s partner—she was someone who could truly be part of their family.
For Ravi’s dad, Megan’s soccer background was a game-changer—literally. Born and raised in England and a die-hard soccer fan, he lit up when he learned Megan played at such a high level. Watching her games quickly became a family event, with Ravi and his dad showing up to cheer her on. “We were always the loudest cheerers,” Ravi says.Even with their different cultural backgrounds, Megan fit into Ravi’s family so easily it felt like she’d always been there. “We are so lucky to have her in our lives,” Ravi says, and his family couldn’t agree more. From day one, it was clear: Megan wasn’t just Ravi’s person—she was their person too.
Now that both families were all-in—Sophie included—it was clear this love story was about to enter a whole new chapter. After five years together, Ravi knew Megan was the love of his life. So, he secretly spent weeks planning the perfect proposal. Megan thought they were just enjoying a getaway to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico—until the second day, when Ravi got down on one knee on the sun-kissed shore and asked her to be his forever. She said yes without hesitation, and the night wrapped up with a private beach dinner and fireworks.
Right after the engagement, Megan and Ravi wasted no time diving into wedding prep—which ended up taking about a year and a half. The challenge? They weren’t just planning one wedding, but two: a Sikh wedding and a civil ceremony with a reception.
Locking down venues for back-to-back days was tricky (Friday for one, Saturday for the other), but their wedding planner, Kiran (eventsbykj), made it all happen. “She was our absolute rock for both weddings,” Megan says. “Her expertise, attention to detail, and tireless work ethic turned our special days into memories we’ll cherish forever. From coordinating with vendors to managing the logistics, Kiran took care of everything with grace and professionalism.,” Megan adds. “She made the entire experience stress-free, allowing us to enjoy every moment of our celebrations. Finally—after all the planning—came the big day: the Anand Karaj on August 9, 2024, at BC Paragon Farms. Determined to honor Ravi’s culture, Megan found her perfect lehenga at WellGroomed—traditional yet so her—while Ravi complimented her with a custom sherwani from Shiv Chala.
“Our favourite moment was the ceremony which was beautifully done by Granthi, Harminder Singh,” Megan and Ravi share. “He made us feel both at ease and allowed us to relax and enjoy the moment with each other side by side with our family and friends near us. Everything about the ceremony was beautiful and everything we could have imagined.”
Then came August 10—the day of their civil ceremony and reception. Megan and Ravi admit that one of their absolute favorite moments was the mid-aisle dip kiss they’d practiced (more than once) in their living room. But they also loved hearing the speeches from family and friends—there were plenty of laughs, a few sentimental tears, and stories that reminded everyone just how far they’d come.
After tackling two weddings back-to-back, Megan and Ravi have some advice worth listening to: “Start early! Your favourite vendors may get booked up fast. It’s best to start with your venue. Also be sure to plan your wedding with open communication, and a shared vision. Prioritize what matters, stay flexible, and cherish every moment.”
Megan and Ravi’s story started with a swipe but grew into something much more. Over time, they brought their lives, families, and traditions together, celebrating not just their love for each other but the support they received along the way.
Their weddings were a reflection of the life they’ve built—a blend of their cultures, values, and personalities. But for Megan and Ravi, the real joy comes in knowing this is just the beginning. Their story reminds us that love can start in the most unexpected places and grow into something truly lasting.
Because at the end of the day, it wasn’t just about throwing the perfect wedding(s); as Megan and Ravi remind us, “Your wedding is one day, but your marriage is forever.”
