The Wedding Story of Amar and Kam

Sometimes, love waits for the right moment, no matter how many times paths cross without meeting. Amar and Kam's story is a testament to the belief that everything happens when it’s meant to.
Both attended the same university, yet despite being in the same place for years, their paths never crossed. Little did they know that destiny had a plan for them—a beautiful love story that would unfold years later. "We were introduced through a mutual friend, the lovely Rimi," Kam recalls fondly. At the time, Kam was in Paris, while Amar was in the UK. It was at this moment, while Kam walked through the airport to board her flight home, that she received a message from Amar. And just like that, the seed of something extraordinary was planted. "The rest is history," Kam says.
From their very first conversation, it became clear that their connection was special. "I knew from the moment we started to speak that we had so much in common, and our sense of humour was exactly the same," Kam explains. The old saying, ‘when you know, you know,’ had never felt more true for them.
For the next few years, distance became a part of their love story. With almost a three-hour drive between their homes, Amar and Kam made plans every weekend to be together. "We soon realised that the distance was not an obstacle," Kam shares. "We were both eager to be in each other’s presence whenever we could." Despite the miles, their love only grew stronger, and before long, they had built a bond that was unshakable.
That bond led to their decision to get married, and on June 21, 2024, they tied the knot in the stunning city of Valencia, Spain, surrounded by 110 of their closest friends and family.
When asked what they love most about each other, their answers come easily. "We’re best friends," they say. "We love that we can go to each other when we need advice, when we need to be lifted up, and when we want to celebrate our wins."
Kam lights up as she talks about Amar: "His sense of humour never fails to put a smile on my face. It’s easy to laugh with him and be silly—that’s one of my favourite things. His caring nature is undeniable, and he never fails to think about me in every situation."
For Amar, it’s Kam’s kindness and warmth that stand out: "Kam’s consistent affection, sweet personality, and selfless nature is what makes her so special. Doing life with her is amazing."
Their love story took an even more romantic turn last summer when Amar planned a surprise proposal during a trip to Croatia. Kam thought it was just a quick getaway, but Amar had other plans. "We had planned a trip to Croatia last summer. Although we could only get away for a few days, we wanted to have some quality time with one another in the sun. Little did I know that Amar had meticulously planned the most beautiful proposal for this trip," Kam remembers.
Amar led her to a stunning cliff top overlooking Dubrovnik’s old town and the sparkling Adriatic Sea. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting soft golden light across the scene. "During the most beautiful sunrise, he proposed in the sweetest way and decided to have it all captured. It was perfect." But Amar had even more planned. After the proposal, they spent a relaxing few hours at a serene beach club before heading to dinner at Restaurant 360, a magical spot nestled within the ancient city walls. "The view was to die for," Kam says. The entire day was filled with love, joy, and a sense of magic that neither of them will ever forget.
When it came time to plan their big day, Amar and Kam had just under a year to pull off their dream wedding in a foreign country. "We planned our wedding in just under a year," Kam says. "Our biggest challenge was perfecting and organizing a wedding that was going to take place in another country. From language barriers to vendor finding, we soon realized how challenging our planning was going to be."
But the challenges didn’t overshadow the excitement. "Our favourite part of the process was visiting our venues!" Kam says. "We flew out to Spain twice before our wedding day, and the feeling of seeing our venues in person and imagining the day was indescribable."
Their wedding day was filled with personal touches and unforgettable moments. Amar, who has been a dholi and part of @beatsbylions for many years, had the chance to perform with his friends at his own wedding. "As Amar has been a dholi and part of @beatsbylions for many years, we were extremely grateful and happy that Amar got to perform alongside his friends during the wedding," Kam says proudly.
Kam’s bridal mendhi, done by the talented Kavita, was another highlight. "Kavita did an amazing job with my mendhi, and I wish I could have it all again!" she says, reminiscing. And of course, the couple was thrilled with their photography and videography teams. "We had the best videography and photography team, who delivered amazing content," Kam adds. "All of our vendors did a great job, and we were so grateful for them."
The wedding celebrations began with a Jago night that was everything they’d dreamed of. "Our Jago night was just how we imagined it to be," Kam says, her eyes lighting up with the memory. "It was full of amazing vibes, colour, fun, and the view of the beach was incredible." One particularly memorable moment? "The level of dancing caused the floor tiles to break, more than once!" she laughs.
The wedding day itself was an emotional and magical experience. "Our wedding day was the most special time," Kam says. "From Amar’s unforgettable baraat to breakfast overlooking the mountains. Our Anand Karaj was truly memorable—something we had waited a long time for."
And then came the reception, a joyous celebration filled with dancing and laughter, set in a venue that perfectly captured the rustic Spanish vibe they had envisioned. "The reception was fun-filled, and our families had the best time together. This venue also overlooked the mountains, and it was just how we envisioned—a rustic Spanish vibe with the vibrancy of a Punjabi wedding," Kam recalls. "Our favourite moment was our first dance, which took place as the sun was setting over the mountains and countryside."
The Outfits
As they reflect on their journey, Amar and Kam have some advice for couples planning their own weddings: "Try to enjoy the wedding planning process as much as possible," Kam advises. "More often than not, the stress and deadlines can become overwhelming, and before you know it, the wedding day has arrived."
Their other piece of advice? "Plan a wedding that is unique to you as a couple. Specific trends come and go, but choosing details that are ‘you’ will always have a special meaning."
From a serendipitous first message to a magical proposal, and finally, to a wedding day filled with joy and love, Amar and Kam’s story reminds us that when it’s meant to be, the universe has a way of bringing two people together. Their love story, written in the stars, is just beginning.
